Eclipse City

History

Eclipse is considered Earth's first MegaCity. Megacities began to form as a result of environmental ruin and wars, forcing incredibly large groups together. In total, there are five megacities throughout the world. Many of them grew slowly over time, building outwards and upwards to accomodate hundreds of millions of people.

MegaCities typically go by two names, the "pretty" name and the number assigned to it based on when it came into existence. For example, Eclipse City is also referred to as MegaCity 01.

Government

The current government of Eclipse City is best described as a corporatocracy, where the system is largely controlled by corporate interests. Politication and corportations are heavily involved with each other, which often sways how the goverment is run.

Culture

There is no set or dominating culture among Eclipse City. Many types of people have blended together to create a diverse and varied way of life. While some groups may flock together, it is easy to learn about their way of life.

Despite this, there are certainly groups of people that are at odds with each other, and can cause a lot of strife.

Districts

Eden

A small but popular district. Hosts most of the city’s brothels, love hotels, strip clubs, and BDSM dungeons.

Dorsett

Largest district where most citizens reside. You’ll most likely find middle to lower class residents here.

New Yurr'dan

Area of the city where many Vexirians have gathered to live. Due to their height, many of the buildings here accommodate to their size and stature.

Sunset Shores

The ideal spot for the rich and powerful, right along the beach. Here you will find luxury hotels, penthouses, and mansions.

Old Eclipse

Parts of the city that have since been flooded from rising ocean levels. Now mostly abandoned, although some transients tend to take up shop in partially-flooded buildings.

The Fringe

The outskirts of the city. It’s much more rural and desolate, often akin to a wasteland. Due to the lack of police activity (both from location and corruption), this is a hotspot for criminal activity. There is a tendency for people to go "missing" much more frequently here.

Freelancers

Scrappers

Gang that often robs cyborgs of their implants and prosthetics. They typically operate non-lethally, kidnapping victims and ripping out their silicon, only to toss them aside once the deed is done. Stolen parts are typically used for their own gain, or sold on the black market for a pretty penny.

Purists

Cult that rejects the melding of flesh and machine. Most often protest the use of prosthetics and the companies that produce them, but more extreme members will target cyborgs for their ritual sacrifices.

Phantoms

Gang of nefarious hackers, named aptly due to being difficult to trace during their attacks.

The Kazakov Family

The Russian mafia syndicate in Eclipse City. Most notable for their corrupt officials and businessmen.

Arishima-Gumi

Eclipse City’s local yakuza gang. Most of their criminal activity revolves around extortion, fraud, and weapons/drugs/human trafficking.

Cytek Industries

World's largest producer of prosthetics, cybernetic implants, and androids.

JoyTronics

Specializes in sex dolls, related implants/prosthetics, and explicit VR Chips.

HealthLine Pharmaceuticals

Largest pharma company across the globe. Many people rely on them for various medical equipment, drugs, etc.

Cane Corso Arms Corporation

Elite and powerful corp that specializes in military-grade prosthetics and cyberware. Known to contract with military and police forces.

Ares Defense Services

Military contractor that supplies various weapons.

Oracle Intelligence

Corp that is responsible for the collection, analysis and exploitation of information. They typically offer their services to the government, but are willing to expand their clientele if you have the money (although that could be said for any corporation).
