The Vexirians
History
These aliens originally populated a distant planet in a distant galaxy. They are a very old species - their existence spanning for hundreds of millennia. During that time, the star that gave them life was dying, which forced them to leave their home planet before they perished with it. Fortunately, they excelled in space travel, able to construct several ships/space habitats that would serve as their homes.
These habitats moved outwards to search for other solar systems, both due to the reliance on solar power, and the search for a new, inhabitable planet to settle on. One of these habitats happened to discover Earth. After some reconnaissance and noting that this was the first planet that they could feasibly live on, they discovered the humans. After long deliberation, they decided to make contact in hopes of starting political relations with the residents of Earth.
Starside
The name for the spaceship/habitat that this colony of Vexirians reside on. It is a large structure that can be seen with the naked eye from Earth. Most of the Vexerians live here, and are able to sustain themselves fairly well with large apartment complexes and hydroponics.
Physical Attributes
Appearance
Vexirians are large creatures, ranging from 6'8" to 8' tall in adulthood. They're skin is soft like suede, and often have a variety of markings on their necks, shoulders, hips, and base of their long tails. A pair of horns adorn their forehead, and can range in size and shape, the bigger horned aliens typically belonging to a higher caste. Besides the top of their heads and eyebrows, they are hairless everywhere else. They also have claws, in which they can retract if necessary. Two sets of sharp fangs are located on the upper set of teeth, and they have long, smooth, forked tongues.
They didn't always appear this way, though, using biomodding over time to change and adapt their bodies for life on Earth. It is said that they took on a humanoid form in order to be more approachable when making contact with humans. It is unknown what their original form looked like beyond the non-human features they still possess, at least to the humans. Vexirians can be quite secretive in regards to what information they give about their history.
Reproduction
There are "two" sexes among the Vexerian specie (there's always the possibility of ambiguous genitalia/intersex Vexirians, and this is widely accepted as normal and natural), with genitals similar to that of human males and females with a few key differences.
A phallus has ridges on the underside, with bumps along the top, both meant for stimulation. The color of head fades into the Vexerian’s secondary color. There are glands along the shaft that produce a natural lubrication when aroused.
Vaginas are also ridged along the labia majora, and clitorises are quite large. They are often compared to bottom growth on testosterone in humans. Vexerians with vagina’s do not have breasts. Vexirians do not experience a menstrual cycle like humans do. Ovulation only occurs when mating. If an egg is not fertilized, it is reabsorbed back into the body. This makes Vexerians highly fertile, but they do have access to birth control in the same way humans do.
Culture
Caste System
Life as a Vexirian is closely tied to their caste. Certain people are born into specific groups, which will determine the kind of life they live, what sort of jobs they can have, and how they will be treated. There are a total of four castes:
- Goverment officials, the wealthy
- Scientists, engineers, and the military
- Common Citizens
- Undesirables
While it is possible for someone to move up the ranks, so to speak, it is incredibly rare and met with judgement.
Relationships
Vexirians are known to typically be polyamorous, referring to their romantic partners as their “pod”. The structure of such relationships can vary from pod to pod, much like non-monogamous relationships in human society. For example, there can be multiple Vexirians who are all involved with each other, or there can be more of a “V” situation. Regardless of setup, all partners tend to end up living in the same home once relationships are established enough. Long term partners will often have a “bonding ceremony”, similar to marriage on Earth, but it is not legally binding. There can be multiple bonded partners in a pod. Due to the caste system, partners of the same caste are often chosen, and dating rarely occurs outside of their caste.
Opinions on Humans
Most aren't actively hostile towards humans, but do keep them at an arms length and look down on them, despite their curiosity. A huge part of this is that humans are yet to be as technologically advanced as they are, and many - especially those in higher castes - believe their use of mechanical augmentations taints them.
A majority of the population stays on their artificial habitat, but a few, for various reasons, decide to live on Earth. Some countries limit or downright refuse to take in alien immigrants, and others welcome them openly. As for aliens accepting humans into their home, it is a long and expensive process with strict guidelines. Most humans who visit Starside are politicians, diplomats, traders, etc, but rarely is it a permanent stay.
Those who choose to live on Earth tend to have more positive views of humans, often creating closer bonds with them. Some even enter romantic and/or sexual relationships with humans.
Alien Life On Earth
Sometimes, an alien will chose to live on Earth. Many decide to do so as a rejection of the status quo - perhaps they wish to work in a field that they are barred from due to their caste, or have relationships outside of it. Due to many sharing similar sentiments, they form close-knit communities on Earth.
Their native language, including their given names - while it has been translated - is very difficult to speak, especially for humans, so they often choose more 'humanized' names when they obtain citizenship. Translation chips are implanted in the brain to further ease the issues with language barriers.
Housing specific to these aliens are available, in particular due to their tall stature, often requiring taller ceilings, or larger beds.
